This is kinda horrifying to see. It's no wonder that nothing ever gets done in politics, if this is how Republicans conduct themselves. Have some dignity, people. I'd be so embarrassed if this was my party.
Okay, the Nanowrimo site is down. I'm finding this most distressing. How shall I update my word count? ;)
*flails at House 6x07*
( Spoilers for House 6x07! )
Despite my ambivalence toward the season premiere, IMO, this season has been really amazing so far. I'm not exactly happy with all of the developments, but overall, the season has still been really good, especially compared with the unevenness of last season.

Fullmetal Alchemist ch 101 is out! ♥♥♥ Thanks to

Hey to everyone!
I'm looking for a J/E fic and I hope you guys will be able to help me.
It's a post The Last Man episode, AU, where John goes back in time but before First Strike and tried to warn Elizabeth. I thought it was
lone_pyramid 's but I couldn't find it on Wraithbait or on Command Dynamic.
Thanks a lot for any help you can give me!

Dear Supreme Court Justices John Paul Stevens, Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor:
Do I call you three cowards, or the three stooges? John Muhammad will meet his maker tomorrow and thankfully you were outvoted in efforts to delay his execution (Virginia acted in HASTE? Are you crazy???). No more appeals. No more crying about "rights". As one who lived through this man's reign of terror in 2002, I can say this man is pure evil and tomorrow the world will be a better place because he is GONE. When someone kills so many people at random, for "sport", they no longer have rights and they do not belong in a civilized society. I'm only sorry that his buddy, Mr. Malvo, won't be joining him.

Disclaimer: I don't own SGA. The title comes from Sting's song "Inside", which I also don't own.
Author's note: "Epiphany" is one of those episodes which left me wanting more - you know, what happened after they got home kind of stuff. I don't think John's apparent abandonment issues were addressed in the show ever again (and as we all know, SGA rocks at that kind of continuity), and this ep really needed that kind of following, so there can never be too many post - "Epiphany" fics. Special thanks to
tenacious_err, who allowed me to adopt a pert of her personal fanon into my own - John Sheppard + sex = ascension :) Enjoy it! Feedback is always appreciated.
Fic here.

For those that know, um, anything about me, you know full well that my love for SGA took a hit in season four and season five, obviously because of the botched way that Elizabeth Weir was handled. If ever I've had my heart broken by TV, it's by that. So, when news of SGA's cancellation came down, I was beyond caring. When further news started up about SGU, I looked the other way. My philosophy on fandom/tv shows is this: if I don't like it, I stop watching. I ignore it. It's as simple as that. For SGU, I was fully content to just ignore any mention of it.
Then the premise was told: a darker Stargate, with BSG tones.
I admit, despite myself, I was intrigued.
Yes, that's right, it's kinda embarrassing to admit to my flist, but I was intrigued by this. I was one of those fans that always liked BSG, probably because I had no major emotional investment in any of the characters and could just enjoy the storytelling - and whether you agree or disagree, I thought the storytelling was groundbreaking. BSG managed to fully develop a cast of over a dozen, giving them rich characterization and backgrounds and motives and whatnot. Whether you liked them or hated them, you at least had material to work with. Other shows like SGA couldn't even manage to properly develop the main four-person team. So, y'know, a darker Stargate actually sounded alright to me.
But I had my heart torn out by SGA, so I was cautious. I figured I'd wait for reviews from my flist before giving it a shot. The SGU premiere aired and... silence. Mostly crickets could be heard on my flist about it. Apparently, people who had once been diehard SG-1/SGA fans couldn't be bothered to tune in for the premiere, and I knew it was for the same reason as me. The reviews I looked up were mediocre at best. So, almost relieved, I didn't watch the pilot. Nor the following three episodes.
I did watch 1.05, Light, mainly because I heard from someone that it was awesome and cemented their previously ambiguous feelings about the show into hardcore love. ( Spoilers for 1.05 )
I was willing to give all of SGU a shot, after that. Even despite my heartache over Elizabeth Weir, I was willing to give it a shot because this show was different from SGA, right? 1.05 was good.
OH, SELF. YOU ARE AN IDIOT.
I watched a bunch of episodes all in a row, and then watched the last one, and I found it badly written, on occasion squicky as hell, and just all around disappointing in characterization and plot. This show will not be any different, mainly because the people running haven't changed. They are the same self-aggrandizing jackasses that I have come to know well from my experience with Stargate. Here is an example. Maureen Ryan is a TV Critic, and apparently gave an unflattering review of SGU. Brad Wright basically called her an idiot (don't you just love the PTB's PR campaign? They've always just been amazing at interacting with the public! < /sarcasm>). She responded with another article and, man oh man, she nails it. She articulates the shortcomings of SGU so well.

Yep. Sorry, and then again I'm not. I gave SGU a shot, and it briefly surpassed my expectations only to come crashing back down again to reality. *washes hands clean of the Stargate franchise*
... Now if only I could do the same with Dollhouse.
Watching SGU made me nostalgic for SGA so I went searching for my favourite SGA vid,
lierdumoa If I Wrote You. Four years on and it still manages to make me smile and feel a bit weepy at the same time.
Ford! His little boy smile when he jumps backwards through the gate makes me want hug and pinch his cheeks. Weir I still adore and no amount of character assasination can change that. I like how the vid features Shep's quieter side, makes me appreciate his wisecracks better to remember he could be serious when he needs to be. Zelenka I think is as cute as a button when describing how Atlantis rose from the ocean. I just want to hug all of them (even Rodney).
*goes back to watch it for a third time* If someone hadn't borrowed my first season of SGA I'd be watching 'Letters from Pegasus' right now or maybe 'the Storm' and 'the Eye'. 'Before I Sleep' mayhaps or should it be 'Rising'?
*sigh* I do miss this team (add Ronon, Bates, Cadman, Heitmeyer and Lorne to the bunch).
I may have written about it in the past, but it bears repeating. In short, I love this vid and the earlier seasons of SGA.
The novel proceeds apace. This weekend I've spent a lot of time writing the climax of the second act, which is one of the biggest moments of the entire novel. I'm not done with this whole pseudo-actiony sequence yet, but the scenes where people are talking about the morality of what they're planning are written. It's great to be past them, even though I know I'll probably have to go back and edit to make it look like less of a Bush metaphor.
This weekend's writing also spawned this icon, which came up in conversation with
sache8, who translated a sentence for me and it turned out to be half the original length. ;)

Really must try and do something other than read, sleep, work, and watch Roswell.
